Fluoride: A Serious & Silent Threat

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral found in water, soil, and some foods.

However, in the context of public health and consumer products, the term “fluoride” often refers to the synthetic fluoride added to water supplies, processed foods, drinks, and dental products.

Fluoride (both natural and synthetic) is a serious, sneaky health risk lurking in our environment, and escaping its grasp is no easy feat.

We are seriously concerned about the dangers posed by water fluoridation. It’s about time we open our eyes to the dark side of fluoride and recognize it for the poison it truly is.

Thankfully, many health and science professionals are joining the fight for change, shedding light on the issue in the eye-opening documentary, Fluoride: Poison On Tap.

The Fluoride Conspiracy Affecting Us All…

Fluoride has been insidiously added to our water supplies since the 1940s, a process known as “fluoridation”.

The rationale behind this baffling practice is even more perplexing, considering that fluoride’s alleged cavity-fighting benefits remain inconclusive at best.

Today, almost 90% of Americans rely on public water systems, and around 70% of those people are subjected to fluoridated water.

Dodging fluoride is like trying to escape your own shadow. It’s virtually everywhere! Restaurants, beverage manufacturers, and dental products are all part of the fluoride mafia. When you tally up these sources, it’s clear that we’re under constant fluoride assault.

Many have been hoodwinked into believing that fluoride is vital for dental health, but the truth is, fluoride is a toxic wolf in sheep’s clothing, and it’s one of the top reasons people call Poison Control.

The health consequences of fluoride exposure, whether through water or other sources, can be disastrous.

The Brutal Impacts of Fluoride Exposure

1. Devastates Skeletal Health

Skeletal fluorosis is a crippling condition caused by excessive fluoride consumption. The liver can’t process fluoride, so it enters the

bloodstream and hooks up with calcium that’s been stolen from your bones. This leaves individuals with weakened bones – a nightmare called skeletal fluorosis.

This can cause joint pain, stiffness, and reduced joint mobility, which are similar to the symptoms of arthritis.

The risk of skeletal fluorosis increases with long-term exposure to fluoride.

2. Fuels Arthritis

Fluoride’s connection to arthritis and inflammation in the body is an area of growing concern. The exact mechanisms by which fluoride may contribute to these conditions are still being researched, but several potential pathways have been identified.

We do know that fluoride wreaks havoc on cartilage, a crucial tissue for joint health. Fluoride can accumulate in the cartilage, the connective tissue found in joints that provide cushioning and support.

Studies have also shown that excessive fluoride exposure can cause calcification and degeneration of cartilage, leading to significant joint pain and reduced mobility. This damage to cartilage contributes to the development of arthritis, particularly osteoarthritis.

3. Ignites Inflammation

Fluoride has been shown to stimulate the production of many inflammatory markers and reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the body.

These ROS molecules lead to a significant increase in inflammatory response and oxidative stress, which can damage cells and tissues, including those in the joints.

Related to inflammation, is the fact that fluoride activates the immune system leading to the production of autoantibodies that attack the body’s own tissues. This autoimmune reaction contributes to the development of inflammatory arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis.

Fluoride also interferes with the normal function of various enzymes in the body, including those involved in maintaining healthy joint tissues. By disrupting these enzymes, fluoride seems to contribute to both joint inflammation and the development of arthritis.

4. Torpedoes Thyroid Health

Iodine and fluoride are known as  halogens. While iodine is a thyroid ally, fluoride is its enemy. Due to their similarities though, the thyroid can mistakenly absorb fluoride instead of iodine, a harmful error. Fluoride is toxic to thyroid cells, suppressing their function and causing cell death.

In the past, fluoride was used to curb overactive thyroids. Alarmingly, the concentration in water fluoridation is similar to the levels once used to reduce thyroid function.

5. Calcifies the Vital Pineal Gland

The pineal gland is a small, pinecone-shaped structure located deep within the brain. It’s part of the endocrine system and plays a crucial role in the regulation of several physiological functions.

The main functions and purposes of the pineal gland are:

  • Melatonin production: The primary function of the pineal gland is to produce and secrete melatonin, a hormone that plays a critical role in regulating sleep-wake cycles (circadian rhythms). Melatonin production is influenced by the amount of light received by the retina, with the highest production occurring during the night.
  • Regulation of reproductive hormones: The pineal gland is also involved in the regulation of sex hormones, such as estrogen and testosterone. It has been suggested that melatonin production by the pineal gland may influence the timing of puberty and reproductive function.

Fluoride’s impact on the pineal gland is mainly due to its ability to accumulate in this gland. Fluoride can enter the pineal gland and bind with calcium, leading to calcification. The calcification of the pineal gland has several very detrimental effects:

  • Reduced melatonin production: Calcification of the pineal gland can impair its ability to produce and secrete melatonin. Reduced melatonin levels can disrupt sleep-wake cycles, leading to sleep disturbances and other related issues.
  • Impact on reproductive function: As the pineal gland is involved in the regulation of reproductive hormones, calcification caused by fluoride accumulation can potentially affect reproductive function. Some studies have reported that girls exposed to higher levels of fluoride experienced earlier puberty than those with lower exposure levels.
  • Impaired antioxidant activity: The accumulation of fluoride and subsequent calcification of the pineal gland can impair its antioxidant function, making the brain more vulnerable to oxidative stress and damage.

Did you know many people use Organic Sulfur specifically to decalcify the pineal gland? It’s true!

6. Impairs Fertility

A direct link has been established between fertility rates and fluoridated drinking water.

Higher fluoride levels correspond to lower fertility rates, particularly in areas with drinking water containing 3 ppm fluoride.

Animal studies have also shown that fluoride reduces reproductive hormones in females. Men aren’t off the hook either; those with fluorosis have lower testosterone and fertility levels compared to men with limited fluoride exposure.

7. Damages Kidneys

Fluoride is also highly toxic to the kidneys, and areas with high levels of fluoride in the water have reported increased rates of chronic kidney disease.

Researchers have also found that a fluoride level of just 2 mg/liter can cause renal (kidney) damage in children.

Today in areas with fluoridated water, the average daily fluoride intake for adults is estimated to be around 0.5 to 3.0 mg per day, and it builds up over time when there is no mechanism or supplement to counteract it.

8. Cardiovascular Damage

The link between fluoride exposure and cardiovascular issues, including inflammation and atherosclerosis, is now well supported by research. Here are some key findings:

  • Endothelial dysfunction: Fluoride can cause dysfunction in the inner lining of blood vessels, leading to atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases.
  • Inflammation: Fluoride stimulates inflammatory markers and oxidative stress, damaging cells and tissues in the cardiovascular system.
  • Lipid metabolism: Fluoride exposure increases cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL cholesterol, contributing to arterial plaque formation and cardiovascular risks.
  • Arterial calcification: Fluoride accumulation in calcified tissues raises concerns about its potential role in arterial calcification and cardiovascular diseases.

“Our study shows that the severity of skeletal fluorosis is directly related to the severity of abnormal cardiac function, as demonstrated by the electrocardiograms. The results show that fluoride in drinking water consumed over time is harmful not only to bones and teeth but also to the cardiovascular system…”

9. Destroys Cognitive Function

Many of the studies conducted on fluoride and intelligence have shown a dose-response relationship, meaning that the severity of cognitive deficits increases with higher levels of fluoride exposure.

This supports the notion that fluoride has a direct impact on cognitive function and that minimizing exposure is essential to reduce the risks.

Research has also clearly shown that prenatal exposure to fluoride, through maternal ingestion of fluoridated water, can lead to significant adverse effects on the cognitive development of offspring.

A study published in Environmental Health Perspectives (2017) found that higher prenatal fluoride exposure was associated with markedly lower scores on cognitive tests in children aged 4 and 6-12 years old.

While the exact mechanisms through which fluoride impacts cognitive function are not fully understood, the main theory suggests that fluoride can damage the hippocampus, a region of the brain that is essential for learning and memory.

Additionally, fluoride may disrupt the synthesis and functioning of neurotransmitters, which are chemical messengers responsible for communication between neurons.

The body of research on fluoride and intelligence underscores the need to minimize fluoride exposure, particularly for children and pregnant women.

These findings also highlight the importance of understanding the potential risks associated with fluoride and taking action to protect cognitive development and intelligence.

Taking a Stand Against Fluoride

Reducing Your Fluoride Exposure Starting Now

So there you have it…

Fluoride is basically a full-on attack on the body, cells bones, mind, and heart.

Yet, here we are, in a crazy world that dumps it into our water supply for no real purpose – other than, most likely, nefarious reasons.

Avoiding fluoride is key to good health, but it takes commitment.

To protect yourself at home, consider taking these steps:

1. Ditch Tap Water…

1. Ditch unfiltered tap water and the products containing it.

If you can, consider investing in a water purification device or system that removes fluoride, among other contaminants.

Here are some details on water filtration that can help remove fluoride from your tap water.

  • Activated Alumina Filters: These filters use activated alumina (a form of aluminum oxide) to attract and capture fluoride ions. They come in various forms, such as countertop filters, under-sink filters, and even whole-house systems. Activated alumina filters can effectively remove up to 90-95% of fluoride from water.
  • Reverse Osmosis Systems: Reverse osmosis (RO) is a popular and effective method for removing fluoride from water. RO systems force water through a semipermeable membrane that filters out contaminants, including fluoride. These systems can be installed under the sink or as a whole-house system. Although they can be more expensive than other options, RO systems are highly efficient at removing fluoride (up to 95%).
  • Deionization (DI) or Ion Exchange Systems: These systems use ion exchange resins to remove contaminants, including fluoride, from water. Deionization systems are less common for residential use, but they can be very effective at removing fluoride. However, these systems may not be as efficient in removing other contaminants, and the resins need to be replaced periodically.
  • Bone Char Carbon Filters: Bone char carbon filters use activated carbon made from animal bones to absorb fluoride and other contaminants from water. These filters can be used as countertop or under-sink systems. While effective at removing fluoride, they may not be suitable for those with ethical concerns regarding the use of animal products.
  • Gravity Water Filters with Fluoride Removal: Some gravity-fed water filters, like Berkey or Propur, offer optional fluoride removal filters. These filters use a combination of activated alumina and other materials to reduce fluoride levels. These systems are portable, require no electricity, and can be placed on a countertop for easy access.

When choosing a method to remove fluoride from your drinking water, consider factors such as the initial cost, ongoing maintenance expenses, ease of installation, and effectiveness at removing other contaminants. Be sure to research the specific product you’re considering to ensure it meets your needs and complies with any local regulations or requirements.

There’s a great article comparing water filters and their ability to remove fluoride, you can find it here.

2. Use Only Fluoride-Free Tooth Paste

Choose natural, fluoride-free dental products containing alternatives like myrrh, coconut oil, and neem, which are just as effective and have far fewer side effects. Here are some reputable brands that sell fluoride-free toothpaste:

  • Tom’s of Maine: This brand offers various fluoride-free toothpaste options, including their Botanically Bright, Activated Charcoal, and Propolis & Myrrh varieties. (Tom’s is widely sold at many grocery stores and online).
  • Dr. Bronner’s: Known for their natural and organic products, Dr. Bronner’s offers fluoride-free toothpaste options in Peppermint, Cinnamon, and Anise flavors.
  • Hello: Hello has a range of fluoride-free toothpaste options, including their Activated Charcoal and Natural Sweet Mint varieties.

  • Redmond Earthpaste: This toothpaste is made from simple, natural ingredients like clay, essential oils, and xylitol. It comes in several flavors, including Peppermint, Lemon Twist, and Cinnamon.
  • Desert Essence: Desert Essence has a range of fluoride-free toothpaste options, such as Tea Tree Oil & Neem, Natural Tea Tree Oil, and Carrageenan-Free varieties.

When choosing a fluoride-free toothpaste, consider factors such as taste, texture, and the presence of other natural ingredients that promote oral health. You may need to try a few different brands to find the one that works best for you. Be sure to check the ingredients list to ensure the toothpaste aligns with your personal preferences and needs.

You can also even make your own fluoride-free toothpaste with a few simple ingredients!

3. Increase Iodine Levels

Make sure you consume enough iodine in your diet, as it can help detoxify fluoride and other harmful halogens like bromide and chlorine.

Iodine supplementation can play a role in managing fluoride levels in the body because iodine and fluoride are both members of the halogen group. When there is an adequate amount of iodine in the body, it can help counteract the harmful effects of fluoride and support overall health. Here’s how:

  • Thyroid function: Iodine is essential for thyroid hormone production. When there is a deficiency of iodine, the thyroid may absorb other halogens like fluoride, which can cause thyroid dysfunction. Supplementing with iodine ensures that the thyroid has an adequate supply of iodine and reduces the chances of fluoride interfering with thyroid function.
  • Detoxification: Iodine can help the body detoxify by promoting the excretion of harmful halogens like fluoride, bromide, and chlorine. When you supplement with iodine, it competes with fluoride in the body, and the increased presence of iodine can help displace fluoride from the tissues and promote its excretion through urine.
  • Protective effects: Some research suggests that adequate iodine levels can protect against the harmful effects of fluoride on the body. For example, studies have shown that animals with sufficient iodine intake were less susceptible to the toxic effects of fluoride on their thyroid function and bone health.

It’s important to note that iodine supplementation should be done carefully and with proper guidance from a natural healthcare professional, as too much iodine can also cause health issues.

You can also incorporate iodine-rich foods into your diet, such as seaweed, fish, and certain dairy products. Again, if you choose to take iodine supplements, be sure to consult with a healthcare professional to determine the appropriate dosage for your individual needs.

4. MSM Is Also Excellent For Fluoride Removal

We spend a lot of time pleading for people to understand the seriousness of chronic inflammation and toxic load in the body.

“Inflammation is the root of all evil, including heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s.” – Dr. Dwight Lundell”

There’s no grey area here… Inflammation is the cause of most disease, and toxic materials in the body drive inflammation! Organic Sulfur is a god given, all natural tool built just for this purpose!

👉 MSM is ideal for removing fluoride due its potent body-wide detoxifying effects, which also include the brain. MSM is one of the only compounds that can penetrate the blood-brain-barrier (BBB).

👉 MSM is also a top-tier, level-one inflammation fighter.

👉 Pure MSM supercharges the body’s natural detoxification process and helps to minimize fluoride and its harmful effects on your health.

👇

How Exactly?

MSM is scientifically proven for its detoxification properties and its ability to enhance the body’s natural detoxification processes. MSM supplementation, therefore, it helps combat fluoride levels in the body in several ways:

  • Supercharges detoxification: Sulfur is vital for the detoxification pathways in the liver. MSM boosts the liver’s ability to detoxify various substances, including fluoride. The sulfur found in MSM also is vital to the creation of Glutathione, the body’s master antioxidant, and primary to the liver’s defence.
  • Binds to heavy metals: MSM has been shown to bind to dangerous heavy metals and changes the chemical structure, such that these metals become water-soluble versus fat-soluble, helping to greatly improve the elimination of fluoride from the body.
Boosts brain detox: MSM enhances the blood-brain barriers’ permeability, the ‘BBB’ is the vital shield protecting your brain from blood-borne toxins. By strengthening and optimizing this barrier, MSM helps limit fluoride (and other toxic) accumulation in your brain, defending neural tissues from harmful effects.
  • Tackles inflammation head-on: MSM doesn’t just reduce inflammation; it targets it throughout your body, extending its anti-inflammatory power to the endothelial cells lining your blood vessels. Endothelial cells are essential cells and are key players in vascular health, regulating blood flow, controlling blood pressure, and preventing blood clot formation. MSM combats inflammation in endothelial cells, while also enhancing their function, keeping your vessels and arteries flexible and efficient. This means a reduced risk of cardiovascular issues and events.
  • Curbs autoimmune flare-ups: MSM’s anti-inflammatory properties also help control the release of inflammatory molecules like cytokines and prostaglandins. By suppressing the production and activity of these inflammation-driving agents, MSM effectively reduces inflammation, including in blood vessel-lining endothelial cells.
  • Boosts nitric oxide: MSM is scientifically shown to boost nitric oxide, a vasodilator that relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow. Nitric oxide is essential for maintaining healthy endothelial function and preventing blood clot formation. MSM’s ability to boost nitric oxide production further supports endothelial cells.
  • Fortifies your joints: MSM is well-known for supporting healthy connective tissues like bones, cartilage, and ligaments. Fluoride exposure can weaken these tissues, but MSM comes to the rescue, providing the sulfur necessary to maintain strong and resilient connective tissues.

The Bottom Line

Fluoride exposure should not be taken lightly. There is poor scientific evidence of it’s value, but there sure is significant evidence on its health impacts.

By raising awareness and taking steps to reduce your exposure, you can protect yourself and your loved ones from the insidious threat of fluoride.

Take a stand for your health, because in these days who else will..?

  • Make clean water a priority
  • Use fluoride-free toothpaste
  • Eat foods that are organically grown and those that include iodine.
  • Use pure, high-dose MSM crystals daily to clean up the body head-to-toe, destroy inflammation, while protecting your brain and joints.

As always, to your health!
